The Office of Economic Development provides a vital link for Mesa's multifaceted business and commercial real estate community. They have proven to be a committed and active group that promotes and preserves the economic strength that Mesa has as it expands its organizational outreach.
There is a wide-range of growing and already established industries that have flourished in Mesa. Their growth is due, partially; to the strong partnerships between public and private sectors and they contain a highly educated workforce and a competitive tax structure.
The aerospace industry is very strong. Mesa comprises nearly 20% of aerospace related jobs within the Phoenix-Mesa area. Mesa has also nationally recognized aerospace programs at the college and community college levels as well as special programs for grades Kindergarten through to grade 12.
Health Care is also one of the strongest industries in Mesa, as it comprises nearly 12% of all jobs. Mesa presently harbors five major medical facilities, more than any other city in the East Valley and second only to Phoenix in the region.
Mesa's manufacturing companies have over 20,000 educated workers from engineers to technical support. Arizona State University and Mesa Community College have extreme relationships with Mesa companies. Companies partner with these two schools to provide strong research and to assist in the specified programs in order to implement new business techniques, procedures and analytical programs.
